bLoyal vs. LoyaltyLion

Built for Shopify. Not for your shop.

bLoyal vs LoyaltyLion is a question about where you sell. LoyaltyLion runs natively on Shopify and Shopify POS, and nowhere else. If your register is Clover, Korona, NCR Counterpoint, Microsoft Dynamics, RMH, Datasym or LS Retail, it cannot see the sale at all.

bLoyal reads every one of them, sends its own email and SMS, and bills by edition rather than by how many orders you take.

Start with the invoice

bLoyal vs LoyaltyLion: the bill grows with your best quarter.

LoyaltyLion prices on monthly order volume. Classic is published from $199 a month for around 500 orders, and Advanced and Plus are quoted by sales. The more often customers come back, the more you pay.

01

Frequency is the thing you were buying

Loyalty exists to make people return more often. On order-volume pricing, every extra visit raises your bill. You end up paying a success tax on the exact behaviour the program was built to create.

02

High-frequency retail is punished hardest

A coffee shop, convenience store or vape retailer doing five thousand small baskets a month pays far more than a furniture store doing two hundred large ones — on less revenue.

03

Two of the three plans have no public price

Only Classic is published. Advanced and Plus are custom quotes, which means the tier holding automated flows and multi-location POS is priced after they know how much you need it.

bLoyal prices by edition, not by volume. Your bill does not move because your sales did.

Where each one runs

One register, or every register.

In bLoyal vs LoyaltyLion terms, LoyaltyLion is a Shopify app. Its point-of-sale support is Shopify POS, available on Classic and above, with multi-location handling reserved for Advanced. For a pure DTC brand on Shopify that is fine.

Most retailers are not that. If you run a specialist register, LoyaltyLion has no way in, so the sale that happened at your counter never reaches your loyalty program.

Some rewards stop working at the counter.

LoyaltyLion’s own Shopify POS help article lists rewards that do not function in store. Gift cards are one. Free shipping is another. Subscriber rewards are a third.

Gift cards are also limited to Shopify Plus merchants. So a customer who earned a reward online can be told at your register that it does not apply here, which is the opposite of what a loyalty program is for.

In bLoyal, a gift card balance is one balance. It redeems at the register and online, against the same record.

What else you will be buying

LoyaltyLion sends nothing. Klaviyo does.

LoyaltyLion has no email or SMS of its own. Its automated journeys, called Flows, work exclusively with Klaviyo and require the Plus plan. Attentive covers SMS. Recharge covers subscriptions.

Moving over

Your points balances come with you.

Most bLoyal vs LoyaltyLion decisions stall for the same reason: moving feels like punishing your best customers. It is not. Members, balances, tiers and purchase history are imported by our migration team.

01

Members and balances import

Nobody loses a point, a tier or a reward they already earned. Your customers never see the change.

02

Your POS connects out of the box

Whichever of the ten platforms you run, the integration is pre-built. No theme code, no developer, no middleware.

03

Email and SMS come with it

You stop paying a second vendor for the messages your loyalty program sends, because they are already in the platform.

Common questions

bLoyal vs LoyaltyLion: common questions

LoyaltyLion is a Shopify loyalty app: points, tiers and referrals, with Shopify POS as its only register and Klaviyo supplying the email and SMS. bLoyal runs on ten POS and eCommerce platforms, sends its own email and SMS, handles subscriptions and gift cards natively, and applies promotions at the register before tender.
Only if your register is Shopify POS, which is supported from the Classic plan with multi-location handling on Advanced. bLoyal integrates natively with Clover, Korona, NCR Counterpoint, Microsoft Dynamics, Retail Management Hero, Datasym and LS Retail, plus Shopify, WooCommerce and Magento.
No. LoyaltyLion has no native email or SMS. Its automated journeys, called Flows, work exclusively with Klaviyo and require the Plus plan, and SMS runs through Klaviyo or Attentive. In bLoyal, email, SMS and journeys are part of the platform and share the same customer record.
Some can and some cannot. LoyaltyLion’s own Shopify POS documentation lists gift cards, free shipping and subscriber rewards as not working in Shopify POS, and gift card management is limited to Shopify Plus merchants. In bLoyal a gift card is one balance redeemable at the register and online.
LoyaltyLion prices on monthly order volume, published from $199 a month for around 500 orders, with Advanced and Plus quoted by sales. Your bill therefore rises as customers return more often. bLoyal prices by edition rather than volume, so repeat visits do not increase what you pay.
Members, points balances, tiers and purchase history are imported by our migration team, so nobody loses a reward they earned. Your POS integration is pre-built for whichever of the ten platforms you run, and there is no theme code to install.
